One ALS addressed "Sir." Everett reports that the Government gave a grant or "jagir" of villages to the defenders of the Bilaspur factory in the Bulandshahr district for giving shelter to Sir Alfred Lyall & others during the Indian Mutiny. His grandfather was manager of the factory and his father served with Lyall. The factory belonged to Hercules Skinner and the distribution of the villages was left up to him. Everett's family never participated in the grant and he is inquiring to seek the actual terms of the grant. With the item is a typed transcript and 12 pages of photocopies from various sources providing information on the jagir and the Skinner family.
